Dear Dairy,

This is indeed a very special post because I have spent my weekend watching one of the best art – Baai Tujhyapayi web series. It is a Marathi language series, and it hit me hard. When I started watching it, I never expected it to leave such a deep impression.

At first, I thought it must be a simple emotional drama revolving around women’s empowerment and all that, but as it progressed, I became increasingly involved. In this review, I want to share my thoughts on this series, explain why it resonated with me so strongly, and why it is a must-watch.

Baai Tujhyapayi Web Series: Why The Story Feels So Real?

Let’s quickly get to the point. I definitely don’t want to keep you waiting.

1. The premise of the web series

The series revolves around a fictional village called Vesaich Vadgaon. Ahilya (Sajiri Joshi), a resident of this village, wants to be a doctor. However, her ambitions get embroiled in centuries-old orthodox customs and gender-based restrictions.

In the village, there is a ritual that once the girl reaches puberty (menstruation), she has to forget her education and get married. Amidst this, how does Ahilya challenge these taboos? And does she succeed – forms the crux of the story.

2. Less drama

The first thing that struck me about the Baai Tujhyapayi web series is its overall ambience. The series doesn’t try to be dramatic. Instead, it focuses on more natural emotions and everyday situations. Not a minute did I feel like I was watching actors; instead, it felt like I was watching real people.

3. Sincerity in story writing

The entire story of the web series is sincere and free from boredom. Additionally, the story unfolds at a pace that allows you to thoroughly understand each character. Nothing feels rushed or over-the-top. Instead, the connection of the lead characters, their emotional bonding, and the story is beautifully portrayed.

4. Superlative performances

A series like this can only work if you have a strong army of actors. These actors don’t just act, but put their heart and soul into it. That conviction you’ll find in the lead actors – Kshitee Jog and Sajiri Joshi. They don’t just shine – they literally outshine.

Their emotion on the screen are so raw, which forced me to pause, take a breath, and I literally had to replay to feel the feelings all over again. Besides, their chemistry – Kshitee and Sajiri’s – is something you have to watch!

5. Beautiful representation of relationships

The bonding between father-daughter, mother-daughter, and the unbreakable friendship is something to watch out for! They were so real and relatable that I started missing the bonding with my friends.

6. The strength of the characters’ arcs

Each character – whether they have a brief or an extended role – has evolved beautifully. The journey of every character is unique, full of warmth, and gives a sense of belonging.

Why Baai Tujhyapayi Web Series is a Must-Watch?

Lately, I have seen web series that are full of gore, violence, bloodshed, and sexual content. Sometimes, these factors act as a detour from the core of the issue. However, in this world of twists, unnecessary glamour, and shock value, Baai Tujhyapayi web series stands out. The reason is that it focuses on intense storytelling and emotions.

The dialogues are meaningful and impactful. The cinematography captures the perfect backdrop of every scene and also highlights the beauty and emotional tone of the story. The background is subtle, and what do I say about the direction? Nipun Dharmadhikari has done a fantabulous job.

It’s not just him, but without the lead characters, the web series would be empty and soulless. The chemistry between Sajiri Joshi and Kshitee Jog is simply outstanding. I would especially applaud Kshitee Jog because I have always been a massive fan of hers since her television days. And every art form of hers – be it a serial, movie, or web series – she does justice to the characters. Indeed, a winning stroke for her!

All in all, all this blends well and creates a warm, emotional viewing experience. But I would like to point out the pacing of the series. Several times, the series lag and become uninteresting. However, Baai Tujhyapayi is far from boring and doesn’t drag for even a second.

Thus, making it an interesting and irresistible watch! I must admit that such bold and sensitive topics can be handled only by Marathi Cinema, for instance, films like Jogwaa, Court, etc.

Who Should Watch This Series?

Actually, anyone can watch this series. But still making your task easier by listing some preferences.

People who are emotional and love character-driven series

Someone who is okay with simple yet powerful narratives

Prefers family-oriented but real-life situations

Young girls and mothers must watch this series

However, if you are someone who likes action-packed web series, then give this series a pass. This series focuses on emotions, depth, and storytelling rather than some gimmicky solution.

Final Verdict

I must admit, Baai Tujhyapayi web series is a gem that is both relatable and an eye-opener. It is a perfect blend of excellent direction and strong acting. Time and again, it reminds you of the importance of storytelling.

It’s about connecting with characters who remind you of people from your life. So, for me, it’s a must-watch, and I highly recommend it – no wonder it deserves all the appreciation.

Dear Diary,

What comes into your mind when you read the title, “Do You Wanna Partner”? A romantic saga or something that talks about relationships? Yes, I had exactly the same notion, and that got me curious to watch this series. And this light-hearted series was a nice watch. Let me elaborate more about it.

Do You Wanna Partner – What’s the Plot?

The series revolves around two friends – Shikha (Tamannaah Bhatia) and Anahita (Diana Penty) – who are unhappy with their professional lives. They both come together and decide to start their own craft beer. Reason – Shikha’s father, played by Indraneil Sengupta, always wanted to have his own brand of craft beer. However, he fails.

Hence, Shikha always wanted to fulfil his dream. Soon, both friends come together, and the real struggle begins in a male-dominated industry filled with dubious families, cynical investors, and competitive hurdles.

However, with many obstacles, they finally find a brewmaster, Bobby (Nakuul Mehta), and the brewing begins, and “Jugaaro” is born. Gradually, the girls encounter a series of problems, and one of them is Laila, a loan shark played by Shweta Tiwari.

The problem cycle doesn’t end here. Their personal differences, ego, love life, and finances create a ruckus in the friendship. But how they navigate through all these problems forms the crux of the series.

The special appearance of Anupam Mittal in the show is like icing on the cake!

What Did I Like About The Series?

For me, the best part of the series is the bonding between the leads and the storyline. Their banter never felt forceful. Instead, even the smallest moments between them carried a natural charm. However, the second best part about the series is Jaaved Jaaferi, who plays the role of Dylan Thomas.

His presence shows that a seasoned actor can make a difference onscreen. Every time he appeared, I was so happy to see him because he made a difference in the storyline. I’m absolutely thrilled about OTT platforms! They’ve given incredible actors like Jaaved Jaaferi a second chance to show the world how truly power-packed their talent is.

Apart from this, the struggle of newbies in this competitive world is real, and the series “Do You Wanna Partner” beautifully highlights the same. Loved the humour in the series, which has a tinge of sarcasm. I feel people should watch the struggles that go into building a business.

But you know what, the surprise package amidst this is Diana Penty. Frankly, I always found her acting monotonous, and she always portrayed serious roles. But this role was meant for her, and she has done a fabulous job. From being serious and competitive to a loving friend, she expresses her emotions, and it is good to watch!

And then, not to forget, there’s Neeraj Kabi too, who plays a ruthless and competitive business tycoon. There’s one scene that stuck with me, and here it is!

What I Didn’t Like About The Series?

In the above section, I focused on the positive aspects of Do You Wanna Partner and mentioned a few characters. However, there are more talented actors like Shweta Tiwari, Rannvijay Singha, and Ayesha Raza, whose performances are noteworthy but unfortunately reduced to meagre roles.

Yes, and sometimes the plot tends to stretch unnecessarily. The show also emphasises how newbies can be illogical and impulsive. But honestly, I don’t think that any entrepreneur with that much experience would make such obvious blunders. Even if it is done for fun, I accept, but that looks extremely forceful.

And frankly, I was not impressed with Tamannaah Bhatia’s acting. It looks monotonous throughout the series. Also, I was never a fan of Nakuul Mehta since his “television” days, and even in this series, he failed to impress. I feel his acting is stretched and over-the-top.

As I mentioned, the supporting cast had the potential to shine, but the makers never gave them the chance or the depth. Most of them looked like props rather than people with their own stories to tell. Some of the scenes and situations were damn predictable.

Also, the storyline is new and refreshing but it could have been better.

Final Verdict

Do You Wanna Partner is a fun, breezy watch that showcases, “life shouldn’t be taken seriously.” Therefore, if you are someone who doesn’t want to invest too much mental strength and is looking for a light watch, watch this series.

It is undoubtedly not perfect, and frankly, I had a lot of expectations because women-centric movies and series are my favourite. Besides, I am already aware of the negative reviews this series is receiving. Still, it is a comfort watch—a break from the serious and gore-filled content that’s prevalent on the internet.

Dear Diary,

After a sabbatical, I am back reviewing and diving into the entertainment world. This weekend, I decided to watch the most anticipated Paatal Lok Season 2 for my favourite, Hathi Ram Chaudhary, aka Jaideep Ahlawat. The funny thing is, I am a late entrant to the Paatal Lok craze. When season 1 was released, I was done with the crime drama and suspense genre and had no intention of giving this series a shot despite my brother’s constant insistence.

However, one fine day, I gave in to this request and decided to watch Season 1. And let me tell you, I was flabbergasted by the performances. I literally gave a pat on my back for watching this brilliant piece of art, which I unfairly delayed for so long! But better late than never!

Naturally, I was incredibly excited for Season 2. So, here’s a sneak peek of how I found season 2.

Paatal Lok Season 2: What’s the Plot?

Well, this time, the series delves into the landscapes of Nagaland and starts with the death of Jonathan Thom (Kaguirong Gonmei), who is an influential Naga leader and is brutally murdered in Delhi. Thom’s murder endangers the proposed trade summit in the northeastern state. Amidst this, the Delhi police find a lead and circle upon a young woman named Rose Lizo (Merenla Imsong). On the other hand, Hathi Ram also finds a lead in the same case and approaches ACP Ansari (Ishwak Singh). Together, they embark on solving this mysterious case and unfold some new chapters.

What Did I Like About the Series?

Undoubtedly, it has to be the star cast starting with Ahlawat. He is shown as ruthless and impatient but emotional at heart. His overall look, especially the paunch, is unmissable, yet he manages to chase tirelessly, nabbing the culprits, sliding from roofs and having great falls. Every stance of Jaideep is so relatable, like his limp because of uric acid, his laboured breathing, his misery for not getting due credit, his heartbreak, his bonding with a small kid – everything looks so real.

Besides, the bonding and chemistry of Hathi Ram and Ansari are the highlights of Pataal Lok Season 2. Their chemistry literally steals the spotlight! But even the other actors have done a fantabulous job. Gul Panag is Hathi Ram’s frustrated wife dealing with grief because her son stays in a hostel. Her frustration and the urge to be with her son is so relatable. Then, there’s Nagesh Kukunoor as Kapil Reddy, a soft-toned bureaucrat with shades of grey.

Once the duo (Hathi Ram and Ansari) reach Nagaland, they are greeted by many characters. I must add that kudos to the casting director for impeccable casting, especially since the series is set in Nagaland. First up is Tillotama Shome, who plays the character of SP Meghna Barua. Her overall presence is simply remarkable in the series. The way she stands by her principles and gives her all in solving the case is commendable. However, her feistiness is underlined, especially when the duo tries encroaching on her turf.

Then comes Daniel (Prashant Tamang), a skilled sniper who brings intensity to the plot. Every time he appeared on screen, my heart skipped a beat because I knew he was ready to take a life. And unfortunately, he does. But to know who he targets and how it unfolds, you must watch the series. Other than these main characters, Jahnu Barua, Bendang Walling, LC Sekhose, Rozelle Mero, and others give some of the best performances.

Coming to the story, the series is gripping, and every action in the series has an equal impact, like a ripple effect. The series doesn’t shy away from showcasing the region’s harsh realities that are generally misunderstood. The series carefully exposes the political tensions faced by the people. Besides, every character has a grey shade laced to it – be it Hathi Ram, who is obviously flawed, then Uncle Ken (Jahnu Barua), or even Jonathan Thom (played by Kaguirong Gonmei and the character who gets killed at the start of the series).

Thanks to its raw and relatable narrative, this series unquestionably earns its spot as a must-watch! But what makes it even more gripping is how every character is intricately connected. The entangled relationships gradually untangle and heighten the suspense at every turn.

What I Didn’t Like About the Series?

At some point, the pace was a problem for me in Paatal Lok Season 2. I felt the episodes were a bit stretched. Some subplots took a long time to unfold and tested my patience. I am sure some viewers might disagree with me, but that’s how I like it! I want pace….

However, introducing too many characters at once made it a bit overwhelming. For instance, Tamang appears at the beginning of the series and then sporadically throughout. This made keeping track of his arc difficult, and I had to backtrack to recall where I had seen him initially. The same issue arose with several other characters—there were so many that it became challenging to remember who was who!

Most importantly, the series thrives on gritty storytelling, but at times, it was getting too overwhelming for me to digest. I was expecting a breather from the dark theme by the introduction of lighter subplots. But I guess that’s how the genre is supposed to be!

Final Verdict

Well, here’s where I wrap my review of Paatal Lok Season 2. This series is definitely bold and compelling and takes you through the scenic beauty of Nagaland. While it stumbles slightly with pacing and character overload, it makes up for it with stellar performances, breathtaking visuals, and a hard-hitting narrative. But if you are someone who loves dark themes, then this series is definitely for you. And if you are a faint-hearted individual, you can give a pass.

Dear Diary,

Thanks to the digital world, we’re privileged to learn about many celebrities, one of whom was Amar Singh Chamkila. Honestly, I did not know of him, nor had I ever heard his name before. However, this film streaming on Netflix took me on a rollercoaster ride, showcasing the life of this legendary singer.

Amar Singh Chamkila – Premises of the Film

The movie revolves around the struggles, fame, and untimely death of singer Amar Singh Chamkila. His “vulgar” lyrics brought him fame across Punjab, but they also attracted the wrath of various societal groups. But he believed he must deliver what the audiences genuinely wanted. Hence, he never changed the course of his career. He continued with his “sleazy” lyrics.

Eventually, while riding high on success, he faced significant criticism before his untimely death. He, along with his second wife Amarjot and two band members, were assassinated in 1988 by unknown assailants, and their murders remain unresolved.

What Did I Like the Most?

Diljit, Diljit, and Diljit… Besides, after Jab Harry Met Sejal and Love Aaj Kal (starring Sara and Kartik), I had lost a bit of faith in Imtiaz Ali. I wondered how a director like him could produce such disappointing films. Then came Amar Singh Chamkila, and it felt like Imtiaz’s golden days of direction were back!

The movie is thoughtfully crafted, chronicling every significant moment of Amar Singh Chamkila’s life so intimately that you feel as if you are part of his journey. The performances by the cast are simply top-notch. Even the briefest roles leave a lasting impact on the film’s narrative.

The inclusion of clips featuring the real Amar Singh Chamkila piques curiosity and encourages viewers to learn more about him. The film beautifully depicts how each event in his life left a mark on the people of Punjab.

Additionally, the end credits are fascinating; they feature real-life photos of the characters alongside their family members, adding a layer of authenticity and emotional depth.

Direction: I strongly believe that no director could have done justice to a biography like Imtiaz Ali did with this film. He has masterfully captured the most intricate moments of the lead character’s life. Not once did I feel bored. Most importantly, Imtiaz and his team have beautifully established the connection between Chamkila’s lyrics and his life experiences.

Acting: What can I say about the acting? Every actor has delivered a fantastic performance. Of course, Diljit steals the show, and deservedly so. I believe he merits all the praise. After watching the movie, I viewed some clips of the real Chamkila and realized that Diljit mastered Chamkila’s body language aesthetically. Parineeti also performed well, although her role was quite brief.

Sound and Cinematography: It’s so refreshing to see the gulley and nukkad of 1980s Punjab captured on film. Moreover, the soundtrack is lively and peppy— and why not — it is by A.R. Rahman. Yes, I must admit, it took me some time to read the subtitles and understand the lyrics. Yet, the music is soothing to both the ears and the mind.

What I Didn’t Like About the Movie?

There isn’t much to complain about. However, I felt that Parineeti’s role could have been more prominent. Despite being a close aide and, most importantly, his wife, she doesn’t really stand out. Additionally, it took me some time to read the subtitles and understand the lyrics, which was an effort, but I’m not complaining.

Over To You…

Well, that wraps up my review of Amar Singh Chamkila. I wholeheartedly urge everyone to watch it. This film is more than just a biography—it’s a deep dive into a compelling story, still shrouded in mystery. Who could have shot him? It’s so tragic that this case remains unresolved.

Moreover, just like me, I’m sure you’ll be captivated by the unique storytelling style—pure Imtiaz Ali magic—coupled with outstanding performances. This movie does an excellent job of highlighting the life stories of some forgotten figures. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary cinematic journey.

Dear Diary,

Some movies compel you to go to the theater. Otherwise, we’re content to lounge on our sofas, watching movies on OTT platforms. Dune Part Two was one such movie that I just had to see in the theater. And wow, what a film! Absolutely brilliant. If you watched and loved Dune Part One, I’m sure you’ll be thrilled with this sequel!

What Is the Basic Plot of Dune Part Two?

If you’ve seen the first installment of Dune, I’m sure you’re eagerly anticipating the sequel. Dune Part Two picks up exactly where the first part left off. This time, we see Paul Atreides, played by the talented Timothée Chalamet, forging an alliance with the Fremen on the desert planet of Arrakis.

Together, they take a stand against the malevolent House Harkonnen. Paul isn’t just an outsider now; he’s fully integrated into the Fremen army, leading daring raids against the Harkonnen’s illegal spice operations.

But the burning question remains: Is he the prophesied savior? It would be best if you witnessed the unfolding events for yourself. Trust me, it’s a cinematic experience you won’t want to miss!

What Did I Like About the Movie?

The movie is an absolute delight. If you’re a fan eagerly awaiting its release on OTT platforms, let me urge you to reconsider. Don’t waste any more time; make your way to the cinema now.

Dune Part Two is a spectacle that truly deserves to be experienced in theaters, not just on a small screen at home. Trust me, the cinematic experience elevates this film to a whole new level!

Storyline: Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Dune Part Two doesn’t disappoint when it comes to storytelling. It’s astonishingly gripping, drawing you in from the very start. No matter how brief their appearance, each character serves a meaningful purpose in the film.

The story is full of mind-blowing twists that will leave you captivated. Some moments will make you exclaim, ‘Oh my God! What an enthralling twist!’ The narrative craftsmanship in this film is truly exceptional.

Direction: Denis Villeneuve’s direction in Dune Part Two is nothing short of phenomenal. Each frame is a visual masterpiece, a feast for the eyes.

Villeneuve masterfully balances the pacing, seamlessly weaving together thrilling action sequences and engaging dialogue. His skillful direction ensures that every moment of the film is captivating, maintaining a perfect rhythm that enthralls the audience.

Acting: What can I frankly say about the acting in this film? It’s nothing short of outstanding. The cast, featuring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, and others, have delivered performances that are nothing less than fantastic.

The on-screen chemistry between Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet is mesmerizing, capturing all my admiration. However, a special mention must go to Rebecca Ferguson. Her portrayal of the Reverend Mother is simply breathtaking.

She brings a depth to her character that can sometimes be intimidating, yet this intensity is the essence of her role. Her performance is a standout in a film filled with exceptional acting.

Sound and Cinematography: A key element that holds the audience spellbound in Dune Part Two is its background score. It’s simply outstanding, with each tune crafted to perfection, sending chills down your spine. The cinematography is equally magnificent.

The depiction of the desert landscape, particularly the awe-inspiring sandworms, is breathtaking. The visual storytelling is so vivid and captivating that you’ll find yourself on the edge of your seat, feeling every pulse of the narrative. The synergy of sound and visuals in this film is a masterclass in cinematic art, creating an adrenaline-fueled experience that’s absolutely unforgettable.

In addition to the sound and cinematography, the costume and set design in Dune Part Two are truly enthralling. They surpass all expectations, immersing you completely in the film’s universe. The attention to detail in every costume and the intricate set design contribute to an incredibly authentic feel.

It’s as if these places and characters exist on some distant, exotic planet. The creativity and artistry behind these designs play a crucial role in bringing the world of ‘Dune’ to life, making it a visually stunning and believable experience.

Action Sequences: The action sequences in Dune Part Two are equally astonishing and a highlight of the film. From intense one-on-one combat to grand-scale war scenes, everything is executed with such realism that it’s utterly breathtaking.

The choreography of each fight and the depiction of battle scenarios are so immersive and well-crafted that they’re guaranteed to give you goosebumps. These sequences are a testament to the film’s commitment to creating a visceral and authentic cinematic experience.

Over To You…

Well, that wraps up my review of Dune Part Two. I wholeheartedly urge everyone to watch it. This film is more than just a cinematic experience; it’s a journey to a different world.

Besides, you’ll be immersed in a unique storytelling style underpinned by stellar direction and outstanding acting. It’s not just a movie; it’s an adventure that reshapes how we perceive epic storytelling. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary cinematic journey.

Dear Diary,

I had been hoping that 2024 would bring films addressing the environmental crisis, and ‘Poacher’ was released. I am a diehard fan of wildlife documentaries and continually follow them.

In fact, I have binge-watched some. So, I was highly anticipating this web series. My interest in it wasn’t swayed by the fact that Alia Bhatt produced it; it was already on my watchlist.

And my verdict is – this web series is an absolute must-watch!

What is Poacher web series all about?

As its name suggests, “Poacher” delves into the grim world of elephant poaching, weaving a narrative around real-life incidents. It follows forest officials in Kerala as they uncover an extensive ivory poaching ring. As the series unfolds, it becomes apparent that this illicit trade extends far beyond Kerala, implicating high-ranking individuals across the country.

The story centers on three pivotal characters: Mala, played by Nimisha Sajayan, is driven by a profound sense of remorse stemming from her father’s past as a hunter. Determined to atone for her family’s history, she is relentless in her pursuit of justice.

Alan, portrayed by Roshan Mathew, is the analytical mind of the group, piecing together the puzzle by scrutinizing telephone records. Their senior, Neel, brought to life by Dibyendu Bhattacharya, offers unwavering support to the team, guiding them through their perilous journey.

Originally produced in Malayalam, the series is also available in various languages, including Hindi, making it accessible to a wider audience. Each character, especially Mala, plays a crucial role in the narrative, highlighting the complex emotions and motivations driving those who fight against wildlife crimes.

What did I like the most?

Let me begin with the cinematography. The camera work is impeccable, capturing the lush greenery, the animals, and the dense forests in breathtaking detail. The bird’s-eye view shots, in particular, are outstanding and definitely a highlight. Equally impressive is the direction; each frame and the actors’ nuanced performances convey profound messages without words.

The director has masterfully brought the story to life onscreen. But the acting truly stands out—all the actors deliver exceptional performances. Dibyendu Bhattacharya’s presence is especially notable. Having been a fan since “Dev D,” I can say he continues to impress without fail.

Admittedly, my exposure to films from the South had been limited, leading me to an uninformed assumption that they primarily produced “masala” films. This series proved me wrong and was a genuine eye-opener. It even rekindled a childhood memory of visiting Kerala, where I encountered the sale of Hastidanta (elephant tusks) and my father’s stern advice against buying it.

This series made me realize the challenging and often thankless job of forest officials, akin to police officers but constrained by numerous rules and permissions before action can be taken. The portrayal of the struggle to save elephants is convincingly real, and the computer-generated images of animals serve as a somber reminder of human encroachment on their territories. It’s deeply saddening and heart-wrenching.

The poaching scenes are particularly impactful, inducing goosebumps. They underscore the urgency and passion behind wildlife conservation efforts. Witnessing the inhumane treatment of such majestic creatures for mere profit is distressing. The lack of remorse in the poachers’ eyes literally made me immensely angry. Moreover, the poaching scenes are particularly powerful, invoking a deep sense of urgency for wildlife conservation.

What I didn’t like about the Poacher?

However, the series is not without its flaws. Certain scenes feel unnecessarily prolonged, diluting the narrative’s impact. The inclusion of characters who serve primarily to deliver moral lessons can feel forced and detract from the story’s engagement.

I felt, Kani Kusruti, a talented actor, is underutilized and I literally yearned for more of her presence. The subplot concerning Neel’s (Dibyendu Bhattacharya) illness feels disconnected from the main narrative, serving more as a distraction than a valuable addition.

Moreover, the character of Mala (Nimisha Sajayan) is often portrayed in a consistently serious manner, lacking moments of fun that could have added depth to her character. The parallel narratives of past and present poaching events sometimes create confusion rather than clarity.

The series finale, particularly, felt lacking. The dramatization of the events in the sensitive area, leading to a mob scene, seemed unnecessary and failed to resonate with me.

Despite these critiques, “Poacher” remains a compelling watch, offering a powerful exploration of wildlife conservation issues that leave a lasting impression.

Over to you…

Regardless of one’s stance on environmentalism or affinity for animals, “Poacher” is a series that resonates deeply. It possesses the power to stir something within us, compelling to reconsider our actions towards animals.

Despite facing certain limitations, the team behind this series has accomplished a commendable feat. Their effort in crafting such a thought-provoking web series deserves high praise. So, a hearty kudos to the entire team for their remarkable achievement in creating a series that entertains, educates and inspires.

Dear Diary,

What is life without the cherished presence of friends? Friends are those who share in our laughter, stand beside us in conflicts, and bestow upon us immeasurable joy and happiness. This beautiful tapestry of friendship is vividly portrayed in the ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ movie.

However, the film goes beyond just depicting these bonds. It poses a thought-provoking question: Are the dynamics of friendship the same in the digital age?

‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ movie delves into the intricate ways the digital era is reshaping the very essence of friendships. In a world dominated by digital platforms like Tinder and Instagram, the film explores how these modern tools are influencing and transforming our traditional notions of friendship.

It’s a journey that examines the complexities of maintaining connections in an age where digital interactions often overshadow face-to-face communication.

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan movie – basic plot

The film ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ centers around the lives of three inseparable best friends – Imaad Ali, Ahana Singh, and Neil Pereira, portrayed by Siddhant, Ananya, and Adarsh, respectively. Each character and actor add a unique flavor to the narrative, enriching the story with their distinct backgrounds and aspirations.

Imaad Ali, with his sharp wit and engaging personality, lights up stages as a stand-up comedian. His journey in the world of comedy provides a glimpse into the life of an artist who skillfully balances humor and reality. Neil Pereira, on the other hand, is a driven personal trainer, passionately making his mark in the fitness industry.

His dedication and hard work shine a light on the demanding and competitive world of personal fitness. Ahana Singh, an MBA graduate from the prestigious Harvard University, embarks on her career as a corporate consultant, bringing her sharp intellect and strategic thinking to the corporate world.

Her journey provides insight into the challenges and triumphs faced by a young professional in a demanding corporate environment.

What stands out in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan?

Upon seeing Ananya Pandey in the trailer for ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan,’ I initially had my reservations about watching it. However, she is accompanied by an incredibly talented cast, including Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav. To my pleasant surprise, Ananya not only holds her own but also shines alongside these skilled actors.

This reminds me of what I mentioned in a previous post about women-centric films in Bollywood and Tara Sutaria – “sometimes, all it takes is the right opportunity at the right moment.” Post ‘Gehraiyaan,’ it seems Ananya has seized another such opportunity to showcase her evolving talent. Believe me, she embraces it with full commitment.

As for the male leads, what can I say? They are fantastic, as usual. Both Siddhant and Adarsh deliver their roles with supreme finesse. Their effortless acting is a real treat to watch and adds significantly to the film’s appeal.

Now, turning to the story itself, if you’re of the belief that ‘ek ladka ladki kabhi dost nahi ho sakta‘ (a boy and a girl can never be just friends), this film challenges that notion head-on. Refreshingly, there’s no romantic subplot between the friends.

Instead, the film focuses on their pure, unadulterated friendship. It’s a testament to the strength and depth of their bond that they always have each other’s backs through fights and love.

Moreover, ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ does an exceptional job of highlighting the disadvantages of social media. It’s a narrative that’s especially relevant in today’s digital age, where social media is the backbone when it comes to shaping relationships and personal identities. The film skillfully balances the portrayal of these challenges with the enduring value of genuine, heartfelt friendship.

Amidst this, the aspect that makes this film watchable is its approach to storytelling. It doesn’t resort to preachy messages; instead, it presents the reality in a raw and unfiltered manner. The film subtly imparts life lessons without dictating any rules, allowing the audience to draw their conclusions from the experiences and interactions of the characters.

This nuanced approach to storytelling enhances the film’s impact, making it not just a cinematic experience but also a reflective journey for the audience.

Performance of the actors

The performances in ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ are a testament to the actors’ immense talent and dedication. Each of the three leads – Ananya Pandey, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Adarsh Gourav – have delivered some of their best work in this film.

Ananya Pandey, particularly, was a delightful surprise, especially considering her previous role in ‘Student of the Year 2.’ She brings a fresh energy and depth to her character that is both unexpected and impressive.

However, it must be acknowledged that Siddhant and Adarsh, with their commanding presence and nuanced acting, do tend to overshadow Ananya in certain aspects of the film. Choosing the best among them is a tough call, as each actor brings something unique and compelling to the table.

Siddhant’s portrayal of a stand-up comedian is a highlight of the film. His comedic timing is impeccable, and his segments are both funny and engaging – definitely a must-watch. Adarsh, on the other hand, is effortlessly natural in every scene. He manages to hold his own, exuding a strong presence even in the most intense and stressful scenes.

Kalki Koechlin, portraying Simran Kohli, adds yet another layer of excellence to the film. Her chemistry with Siddhant is captivating, and her performance is a treat to watch.

What did I hate about the Kho Gaye Hum Kahan Movie?

I didn’t find much to dislike in ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.’ Still, I did feel that some scenes, particularly those involving Rohan Gurbaxani, who plays Rohan Bhatia – Ananya Pandey’s character’s boyfriend – were a bit too prolonged.

As for the music, while it wasn’t outstanding, it was nevertheless soothing. However, one aspect of the film that stood out to me was its portrayal of influencers.

At times, the film showed the judgmental side of this culture. However, I think it’s important to understand that for many influencers, this is more than just a platform for self-expression. It’s their job, and for some, it’s their livelihood.

Over to you…

The most impactful line for me from the ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ movie was, “Find your tribe; agar dost hai toh followers ki kya zaroorat hai.” This line truly captured my heart. It resonated deeply with me, reminding me of the invaluable presence of real friends in a world where social media followers are often mistakenly equated with meaningful relationships.

I loved the movie so much that I’m already planning to watch it again. I must admit, it’s not just a film for me. Indeed, it struck a personal chord, reminding me of my own ‘tribe’ and how they’ve been my support system through various challenges. Furthermore, it’s a beautiful reminder of the importance of cherishing genuine connections over virtual ones.

If any of you have seen the film, I’d like to hear your thoughts on it. How did you find it? Did any particular moment or line stand out to you as it did for me? It’s always interesting to see how different aspects of a movie resonate with different people, and I’m curious to know how ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ impacted you and your views on friendship in the digital age.

Dear Diary,

Today, I ventured outside my comfort zone, prompted by a friend, to watch “Animal” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Normally, I shy away from violent films, but my appreciation for the exceptional acting in “Arjun Reddy” and “Kabir Singh,” also directed by Vanga, piqued my curiosity. However, “Animal” turned out to be a stark departure from what I had expected.

The film is steeped in gore and violence, featuring an intensity of bloodshed that I found overwhelming. As I sit down to pen my Animal movie review, I reflect on how this movie diverges from my usual preferences. Its relentless focus on raw, visceral scenes was a jarring experience, starkly contrasting with the character-driven narratives I usually enjoy.

In sum, while “Animal” showcases Vanga’s distinct directorial style, it may not resonate with those who are faint-hearted or prefer less graphic content.

Animal movie review – what I loved about it?

“Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, presents a compelling narrative rooted in toxic parenting and its transformative impact on a young man. I won’t reiterate the plot, as it’s widely discussed online, but I’d like to share my take on the film.

Despite its criticisms of being tagged as misogynistic and overly gory, “Animal” has commendable aspects. A standout element is Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Rannvijay. His character, while embroiled in violence and unpredictability, displays a deep-rooted love and protective instinct towards his sisters. This complexity adds depth to his role, showcasing a blend of brutality and familial loyalty.

However, the story itself didn’t resonate much with me, but the performances were exceptional. Ranbir Kapoor shines in his role, but it’s Anil Kapoor, as the toxic father, who truly captivates. His presence on screen is magnetic, reaffirming his status as an unparalleled force in Indian cinema.

Rashmika Mandanna’s performance, particularly during her character’s emotional breakdown, is another highlight. Her portrayal is so powerful that it left me with goosebumps. This time, the film presents its female characters as strong-willed, even as they navigate a landscape tinged with misogyny. Rashmika’s scenes, especially her confrontational moments, are a marked improvement over the portrayal of women in films like “Kabir Singh” and “Arjun Reddy.”

Furthermore, the supporting cast, including Shakti Kapoor, Upendra Limaye, and Babloo Prithiveeraj, all deliver strong performances. Upendra Limaye’s impactful dialogues, championing the themes of “MADE IN INDIA” and “MAHARASHTRA,” are particularly memorable.

But the scene-stealer of “Animal” is undoubtedly Bobby Deol, known affectionately as LORD BOBBY by his fans. His silent yet powerful portrayal speaks volumes, with his actions conveying more than words ever could. His commanding screen presence, combined with a sleek physique and potent physicality, adds a captivating dimension to the film.

In conclusion, while “Animal” has sparked controversy for its thematic choices, it stands out for its stellar performances and the intricate layers within its characters.

Animal Movie Review: What I hated the most?

Why is the movie so long??? The first half of the film is brisk and engaging, setting a pace that promises an intriguing journey. However, the second half fails to maintain this momentum, transitioning into what I found to be a lackluster and, frankly, boring narrative.

The revenge drama, intended to be the film’s climax, becomes overly intense and, paradoxically, uninteresting. As someone who is not a fan of violence and bloodshed, I found myself either dozing off or consciously avoiding the fight scenes, which seemed endless and repetitive.

While I appreciated the protagonist, Rannvijay (played by Ranbir Kapoor), protective nature towards his sisters, his behavior towards other characters, particularly his wife, is jarringly inconsistent.

His rudeness and arrogance, coupled with a disdain for professional advice, raise questions about the portrayal of such characters in cinema. The film normalizes infidelity and vengeful behavior, which is concerning, considering the impact movies can have on public perception and behavior.

Another point of contention is the glorification of the character’s insensitive and violent traits. It’s a reflection of a worrying trend in cinema where such behavior is romanticized rather than critiqued. Additionally, the excessive violence in the film is not only distasteful but also comes across as mindless, particularly in scenes where the protagonist single-handedly confronts a horde of adversaries. This act feels tired and unrealistic.

On a parting note…

After watching “Animal,” I couldn’t help but compare Rannvijay, the film’s protagonist, with the more endearing characters of Barfi and the mature Bunny, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor in his earlier works. While the character “Rannvijay” had the potential to stand out, the film fell short in various aspects.

One of the central themes of “Animal” is the impact of a dysfunctional family, a topic that certainly warrants exploration. However, the film’s approach to this sensitive subject could have been more subtle and nuanced. The heavy-handed portrayal, coupled with an unnecessarily prolonged duration, made the viewing experience feel laborious, almost as if stepping into the theater one day and leaving on another.

I acknowledge that my aversion to the film’s violent content might not align with the preferences of those who appreciate such genres. However, personal taste is subjective, and in my case, the excessive violence in “Animal” was off-putting. Moreover, I found the misogynistic undertones, particularly in the comments made by the lead actor, to be distasteful and unacceptable.

In conclusion, my review of “Animal” is unequivocally a thumbs down. While the film attempted to tackle complex themes and featured a talented cast, its execution, and narrative choices left much to be desired. It’s a reminder that sometimes, less is more when it comes to storytelling, especially when dealing with intricate and sensitive subjects like family dysfunction.

Dear Dairy,

Finding true love in the modern dating world is extremely difficult. This challenge intensifies if you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community due to societal norms and pressures. Remember how, in our childhood and teenage years, queer relationships were considered taboo? Thankfully, things have changed, albeit with ongoing challenges.

Amidst these reflections, I decided to watch an amazing docuseries titled “Rainbow Rishta.” Now, you might be wondering about the series. Let’s delve into that and find out more.

Why did I love Rainbow Rishta?

First, let me explain why “Rainbow Rishta” piqued my interest. If you’re familiar with “Made in Heaven” Season 2, you might recognize Meher, also known as Dr. Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju.

I’ve been a fan of hers since I started following her on Instagram. Dr. Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju, who underwent gender affirmation surgery at 21, is a trailblazer as Karnataka’s first transgender doctor. Her involvement in the docuseries was enough to draw me in.

Each episode of “Rainbow Rishta” reveals a new narrative, ranging from Daniella’s wedding preparations to the enchanting story set in the lush monsoon season. Among these, the story that truly captured my heart was that of Sadam Hanjabam.

I won’t divulge any details about it because the series itself is a must-watch to appreciate these narratives fully. However, I found one specialty – often, docuseries or documentaries can come across as scripted, but “Rainbow Rishta” stands out for its authenticity.

The struggles are real…

It chronicles the real struggles faced by members of the LGBTQIA+ community. From the outside, it’s easy to pass judgment without understanding their experiences. Have we ever truly considered what they might be going through, the challenges they face in their lives, or the stories that shaped them? This series invites us to reflect on these important questions.

Indeed, our understanding is often limited. In a world where queer relationships are frequently viewed negatively, “Rainbow Rishta” offers a more balanced perspective. Watching the show, I felt a sense of hope for all the couples featured despite the hurdles they faced.

Some struggle with societal issues like finding a house to rent due to their queer identity, while others face personal challenges, such as gaining acceptance from their parents. This series sheds light on these diverse experiences, emphasizing the resilience and love that these couples embody.

Overall setting of Rainbow Rishta

The overall setting of “Rainbow Rishta” is truly mind-blowing. What stands out most is the series’ masterful handling of transitions from one story to the next. These transitions are executed so subtly they keep you deeply engaged and eager to learn more.

As you’re absorbed in one narrative, you find yourself simultaneously curious about the developments in the other stories. This seamless storytelling not only maintains your interest but also skillfully weaves together the various threads of each individual’s journey, creating a rich tapestry of experiences that is both captivating and thought-provoking.

One particularly heartwarming moment in the series, which had me reaching for a box of tissues, involves Soham and Suresh. I apologize for the spoiler, but it’s worth mentioning. In their story, Suresh’s nephew and niece play a pivotal role.

Special mention

What’s so special about this, you might ask? These children, despite their young age, display an inspiring lack of judgment and a genuine wish for the best in life for Suresh and Soham. This moment touched my soul profoundly.

It serves as a reminder of the innate innocence and wisdom of children, who, with their unfiltered view of the world, can teach us invaluable lessons in acceptance and love. The sincerity and empathy shown by these kids are both heartening and thought-provoking, highlighting the inherent goodness that we can all learn from.

On a parting note…

The docuseries, undoubtedly unscripted, presents an array of heartwarming moments that prompt deep reflection. While there are instances of heartbreak, these are handled with care and are highly informative.

Despite the fact that same-sex marriages are not yet legal in India, the Supreme Court’s directive to “end discrimination against the queer community” marks a significant step forward. As members of society, it’s crucial that we embrace this directive.

After all, love truly has the power to conquer great heights. This series not only sheds light on the struggles and triumphs within the LGBTQIA+ community but also serves as a poignant reminder of the universal power and resilience of love.
